Cupping
Cupping, which was often used in Switzerland in the past, is also known in TCM.
With cupping, different sized scoops (glass balls) are heated in an alcohol flame and placed with the opening facing down on certain parts of the body. As the ball cools down, a vacuum is created inside the ball, which "sucks" the skin in. This has several positive effects
- Improve blood circulation
- Improvement of the metabolism (increased excretion of deposited waste materials)
- Mechanical loosening of stuck tissue (e.g. scars)
- Detonization (increased tension in tissues is normalized)
- Pain relief Stimulation of internal organs via skin reflexes (reflex zone therapy)
